About three years ago when the Heart Centre commenced its operations, the Publicity Team was tasked with the responsibility of educating the public about these new specialized services. It was not simple but the physicians were assigned to train the various teams before we could market the services.
We engaged the community around our facility, used the media houses through Radio, TV and print news, Clinics in the catchment area, Regional hospitals and Social media. The beginning was challenging as many people believed that Mulago Heart Institute was the only facility for such cardiac interventions. Eventually, patients started checking out our clinic hence the increase in numbers of our Heart Check-up camps. We have now extended our services by screening patients in Outreaches. Our Collaboration forum has also been of great support as a number of patients are referred to us by the clinicians in the area on the daily basis.
We also started receiving regional patients who are directly referred to us by Cardiologists from various parts of the Country. The 24hr service with an Interventional Cardiologist on call has been of great support to the patients which has enabled procedures to increase in number.
We have therefore registered a good number of success stories which have made the hospital known for its Heart treatment
in addition to other referrals in for Echo, ECG and CT-Scan services.
We really appreciate the Customer Care and Medical teams which have worked tirelessly to promote the Heart Centre services and make this specialized service known to many patients out there.
